NBA Veteran Maurice Ager Brings Elite Basketball Experience to SEAJBL

The Southeast Asia Junior Basketball League is proud to announce that former NBA player Maurice Ager will play an active role in supporting the development of youth basketball through a special CJBC camp and mentorship opportunity with SEAJBL.

Ager brings elite professional experience from the highest levels of basketball. He was selected in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and went on to play in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. His career also included successful professional seasons across Europe and international leagues, giving him a broad perspective on the global basketball landscape.

Before entering the NBA, Ager was one of the standout players in college basketball at Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball under legendary coach Tom Izzo. During his time at Michigan State he helped lead the program to multiple NCAA tournament runs and became known for his scoring ability, athleticism, and competitive mentality.

Throughout his career Ager competed alongside and against some of basketball’s elite talents, gaining first-hand experience in the preparation, discipline, and mindset required to succeed at the professional level. That experience now forms the foundation of the mentorship he provides to young athletes.

A Strong Fit for SEAJBL & CJBC Development Pathways

Ager’s involvement aligns strongly with SEAJBL’s mission of building structured youth basketball ecosystems across Cambodia and Southeast Asia — providing players with exposure to high-level knowledge, international perspectives, and professional habits early in their development.

During CJBC sessions, Ager will focus on:

• Skill development
• Scoring fundamentals and offensive decision-making
• Professional training habits and discipline
• Competitive mindset and resilience
• Understanding pathways to collegiate and professional basketball

For Southeast Asian players, learning directly from a former NBA athlete provides a rare and powerful experience. It helps bridge the gap between grassroots basketball and the global game, reinforcing that with the right work ethic, guidance, and opportunities, players from this region can aspire to compete on the world stage.
