The Kampot Training & Tryout Camp is bringing structured basketball development and player identification to southern Cambodia, giving young athletes in Kampot the opportunity to train in a structured environment while competing for a place on a representative team preparing for the Cambodia Junior Basketball Competition (CJBC) in Phnom Penh.
This camp is designed to support the continued growth of basketball in Kampot by making high-level coaching and structured development accessible to the local community. Players will participate in focused training sessions that emphasize the fundamentals required to perform in real game situations.
Training sessions will cover essential basketball skills including ball handling, finishing at the rim, shooting mechanics, footwork, defensive fundamentals, spacing, and decision-making under pressure. Each session is built around quality repetitions, strong technique, and confidence-building habits that players can carry into their own training and competition.
In addition to player development, the camp will also serve as a team selection opportunity. Coaches will observe players throughout the sessions, evaluating skill level, work ethic, coachability, and basketball IQ. At the conclusion of the camp, up to 20 players will be selected to form a Kampot representative team that will continue preparing together to compete in the CJBC competition in Phnom Penh.
Training will include competitive drills, small-sided games, and guided scrimmages, helping players apply their skills in real game scenarios while developing teamwork and communication.
More than just a camp, this initiative creates a pathway for Kampot players to connect with the wider SEAJBL and CJBC basketball ecosystem, offering the opportunity to train with purpose, represent their city, and take the next step in their basketball journey.
